HOW IS BUG BAKES MADE?
STEP 1: HIGH QUALITY INGREDIENTS
We carefully select high-quality, ingredients to create our Bug Bakes recipes.
STEP 2: DEHYDRATION
The ingredients are then dehydrated and finely ground into a nutrient-rich blend.
All of our manufacturing takes place here in the UK.
STEP 3: COLD-PRESSING
Finally, the blend is pressed into pellets at a low temperature of 45°C to help retain the natural nutrients (unlike extruded kibble).

Hi, I'm Ross, Founder of WILD Pet Food and Level 3 Diploma Canine Nutritionist,
While studying at university, I came across emerging research showing how powerful insect protein could be as a sustainable, highly digestible alternative for dogs. Seeing both the environmental potential and the nutritional benefits, I launched Bug Bakes - hand-making more than 500,000 insect-protein treats in my mum's kitchen (fully approved, of course) and selling them at markets around the UK.
As more dog owners discovered the benefits, Bug Bakes continued to grow, eventually appearing on BBC One's Dragon's Den and Shop Well for the Planet, helping us bring insect-based nutrition to an even wider audience.
Through years of formulation work across both insect and traditional protein recipes, one thing became increasingly clear: insect protein isn't just a sustainable, novel protein source - it's also incredibly effective for dogs with sensitive digestion, naturally rich in nutrients and highly digestible.
Today, Bug Bakes is proudly part of the WILD Pet Food family, continuing the same pioneering mission we started with: create better, smarter nutrition that helps dogs thrive.
